CHP begins maximum enforcement for Fourth of July weekend

KEYT

SANTA MARIA, Calif.- CHP says nearly 1000 DUI arrests were made during last year’s Fourth of July enforcement period.

This year, officers are looking for traffic violations like not wearing a seat belt, speeding and distracted driving.

CHP says to stay safe, have a designated sober driver or use a ride-share service.

A DUI prevention conference was held in Santa Barbara County to address deadly car crashes on the Central Coast.

If you see or suspect an impaired driver, call 911 immediately and be prepared to provide a description of the vehicle.

CHP says your phone call may save someone’s life.
