Search warrant issued again in Kristin Smart disappearance
SAN PEDRO, Calif. - The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office has served a search warrant related to the 1996 disappearance of Kristin Smart.
Today's search warrant is for specific items of evidence at the Los Angeles County home of Paul Flores, according to the SLO County Sheriff's Office. Flores has been a person of interest in the former Cal Poly students disappearance.
Today's search comes a couple months after search warrants were issued in four locations in California and Washington State.
As with previous search warrants, details are being sealed by the courts.
Supporters of the Smart family are reacting to the development.
"Any development in Kristin's case is always cause for celebration," said Sandee Hunt-Burns, social media and community engagement coordinator for Warriors for Kristin.
She said that their group is glad investigators are continuing investigating the case, despite the pandemic.
"One thing that Warriors for Kristin are great at but also hate doing is waiting. And that's you know what we've been doing for 24 years," Hunt-Burns said. But she said she's hopeful any new evidence will lead to an arrest.
We reached out to the Smart family for comment, but they do not have a statement at this time.
