Santa Barbara woman identified as victim in deadly Hwy 1 crash near Lompoc
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - A Santa Barbara woman was identified as the person killed in a head-on crash near Lompoc on Valentine's Day.
The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. Friday on Highway 1, just south of Santa Rosa Road.
On Wednesday, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office confirmed Selena Araiza, 24, of Santa Barbara was killed in the crash.
CHP investigators say a 55-year-old Lompoc man was driving on Highway 1 when he veered off the road and then back across traffic lanes, hitting another car.
Araiza was a passenger in the car that was hit. She was killed in the crash.
The two drivers suffered major injuries and were hospitalized.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. As of Wednesday, no one had been arrested.
