Allan Hancock College holds CORE Custody Academy Graduation

LOMPOC, Calif. - Family, friends and fellow law enforcement officers were on hand for the Allan Hancock College CORE Custody Academy Graduation ceremonies Friday morning at the AHC Lompoc campus.

Most of the graduates in Class #07 are going to work for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department as county jail custodial deputies with another graduate accepting a position with the Lompoc Police Department which operates its own jail.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill Brown delivered the keynote address congratulating them on their achievement and encouraging them to strive to maintain the highest standards and ethics in one of the most difficult jobs in law enforcement.

The CORE Custody Academy at AHC's Public Safety Academy is a comprehensive, 220 hour California Standards and Training for Corrections course of instruction.

It includes instruction in emergency planning in a custody facility, report writing, ethics, taser, baton, chemical agents, investigation procedures, classification of inmates, contraband, arrest and control, physical training, CPR/First Aid and emergency vehicle operations.

Many of the graduates in Class #07 are expected to fill positions at the new Santa Barbara County North Branch Jail near Santa Maria that is due to be completed and opened in 2020.
