“Real Fire” near El Capitan State Beach holds at 420 acres, containment nears 80%

Santa Barbara County Fire Fighters sent out an update regarding the “Real Fire” near El Capitan State Beach.

The ‘Real Fire’ off Calle Real and highway 101 near El Capitan State Beach still holds at 420 acres.

Fire officials said the planned containment percentages are as follows; 80% by 6 p.m Saturday, 90% by 6 p.m. Sunday, and 100% by 6 a.m. Monday/Tuesday.

The Real fire broke out about 4:30 p.m. Friday afternoon by El Capitan State Beach. The fire forced the closure of highway 101 but has since been reopened.

Evacuations were also lifted for three campgrounds in the area. No structures were damaged.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
