Fritzler family releases statement in response to AP report on Conception findings
The owners of the dive boat Conception released a statement to our newsroom following an Associated Press report stating that investigators were unable to determine the cause of the deadly fire after an examination of the boat.
The Fritzler family released the following statement to our newsroom through their attorney, Douglas Schwartz:
As we await the official findings, the preliminary insight is unfortunate.
For the sake of the victims, their loved ones, and the crew, Glen and his family want answers. It has become Glen’s personal mission that this never happens in the passenger boat industry again.
Glen is investing into additional independent investigation efforts to do everything he can to shed more light on what started the fire.
According to the AP report, parts of the vessel have been sent to labs for additional testing.
The fire is the subject of a federal criminal investigation, led by the Coast Guard, the FBI and the U.S. attorney’s office in Los Angeles.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the fire as well and are expected to complete their full safety investigation in the next 12-18 months.
