Artist Joe Cardella remembered with Pop-Up retrospective

A pop-up art exhibit called “Joe Cardella: The Artist” opened with a reception at the Museum of Ventura County on Saturday.

Cardella died in May after being diagnosed with esophageal cancer. He was the founder of the internationally acclaimed ART/LIFE magazine.

Local artists said he helped transform Ventura into the art community is it today. Cardella also helped form the Ventura Artists Union.

The show runs through mid-November.
