CHP helicopter captures video of pursuit that ended near Cal Poly

Take a look at the video clip above. California Highway Patrol – Coastal Division Air Operations released video from their helicopter of a pursuit that started in Pismo Beach shortly before 9 a.m. Thursday, July 26.

A resident alerted police patrolling the intersection of James Way and Highland of a male driver in a dark older model Chevrolet Tahoe that was driving erratically through neighborhoods.

When officers tried to pull him over, the suspect took off.

The CHP and San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s deputies took over the pursuit as the suspect headed through the Avila Valley. He made it to San Luis Obispo where he seemed to taunt police at intersections.

At one point, it looked as if the suspect was going to climb on top of the roof of his SUV. The chase continued until he was ultimately caught and taken into custody near Cal Poly.

Authorities are trying to determine whether the man may have committed any other crimes.
