Fatal crash on northbound 101 leads to helicopter rescue near Faria Beach

Northbound traffic was shut down Saturday evening following a fatal two car rollover crash on US 101 near Faria State Beach.

The crash happened at around 5:30 p.m. in the northbound lane of US 101. According to the California Highway Patrol incident log, two vehicles overturned.

One person died on scene, one transported to the hospital in critical condition and one suffering moderate injuries. A Ventura County Sheriffs helicopter was called in to airlift people to the hospital.

Traffic was backed up due to the crash and the northbound lane was eventually closed completely to allow an emergency helicopter to land. All lanes have now reopened.
