Students promote the academies and programs they like best at annual high school showcase

Santa Barbara Unified School District let high school students do the talking at its annual High School Showcase on Wednesday night.

Students from San Marcos, Santa Barbara and Dos Pueblos High Schools set up displays at the Earl Warren Showgrounds to show off their academies, technical education pathways and special programs.

The showcase had twice as many offerings this year.

Programs and pathways on display included computer science, engineering, automotive technology, culinary arts, sports medicine, multimedia arts, entertainment and finance.

Representatives from alternative education programs were also on hand.

Students wishing to transfer to another school in the district must submit transfer applications by Friday, Jan. 19.
