Santa Maria advances to first CIF baseball final since 1957

They entered the CIF-SS division 6 playoffs as a wild-card entry but now the Santa Maria Saints are just one win away from winning the championship.

The Saints won their fifth playoff game this year, a 10-1 semifinal victory at Southlands Christian.

Santa Maria scored six times in the third inning and cruised to victory.

The Saints will play in the program’s first CIF final since 1957 against Moreno Valley.

The title game will be Friday or Saturday at UC Riverside. The CIF will announce a date and time on Wednesday.

Santa Maria is now 20-11-1 on the year.
