Popular downtown Santa Barbara restaurant abruptly closes
Bucatini restaurant at the corner of Haley and State streets in Santa Barbara abruptly closed its doors after 21 years in business.
With covered windows and empty chairs, Bucatini management promises the restaurant will reopen soon at a new location. Although it’s unclear where that location will be, sources say the establishment is moving to a nearby spot.
A note posted at the business thanks customers and friends for their support.
Bucatini is owned and operated by The Montesano Group, a company by Gene Montesano. Montesano also owns other staple restaurants like Joe’s Cafe in downtown Santa Barbara and Lucky’s Steakhouse on Coast Village Road near Montecito.
