Youth basketball coach accused of sexual abuse of child

A youth basketball coach in Santa Maria is behind bars and facing five counts of lewd and lascivious acts upon a child under age 14.

Ramoan Blackmon, the executive director of Cal Hoops Elite Basketball Academy in Santa Maria, is behind bars at the Santa Barbara County Jail on $100,000 bond.

Investigators arrested Blackmon on November 16. Blackmon is accused of touching, hugging and kissing a minor only identified as “Jane Doe.” The abuse is alleged to have began when the girl was only 11.

Detectives with the Santa Maria police department said there is no connection between Blackmon’s involvement with youth basketball and the victim.

Blackmon will appear in court for his arraignment on Monday, December 4.
