Search Continues for Suspect in Santa Maria Gas Shooting

KCOY 12: Conserv Fuel Shooting Follow

SANTA MARIA, Calif. – The search continues for a man suspected of shooting another man on Thursday at the Conserv Fuel gas station in Santa Maria.

Santa Maria Police calling this an attempted murder investigation. They say just before 4:30 yesterday afternoon they responded to the gas station.

“We are still reviewing evidence and going over witness statements to see where it takes us,” says Sgt. Paul Flores, Santa Maria Police Department.

Srgt. Flores says they are searching for a suspect described as a Hispanic man. They say he was driving a white American pick up truck and in the car with him a Hispanic woman and another passenger.

One day later, after the shooting, the gas station is back open to customers. For Santa Maria residents like, Kalin Eisenbeis, the shooting is forcing him to be more aware of his surroundings.

“Like every other day there’s some violence happening in this town where I guess at any moment it could be me,” he says.

Police say the victim, who’s name they are not giving out due to the ongoing investigation suffered non-life threatening injuries. They also say because of the nature of the case they aren’t releasing surveillance video or how many times the victim was shot.

“Everything is so crowded down here, everybody is go angry you drive by anytime and people are flipping you off cutting you off road rage seems like it’s rampant down here now,” says Eisenbeis.

We tried several attempts to talk to the owner of the gas station for comment but, she was not available.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Santa Maria Police Department.
