Amazon Opens Pickup Location in Isla Vista

Amazon, one of the biggest online retailers selling anything from books and pencils to movies and cloud services, has opened a fully staffed pickup location in Isla Vista.

Amazon@IslaVista, located at 6533 Trigo Road, offers students and members of the community a convenient and secure location to pick up and return Amazon orders. Store hours are Monday-Sunday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Amazon Student and Prime members will receive Free Same-Day Pickup for orders placed by noon on virtually everything, from everyday essentials to technology.

Amazon@IslaVista is the fourth pickup location that the company has opened in 2015. Earlier this year, Amazon opened two locations on the Purdue campus and one at University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Here’s how Amazon@IslaVista works:

Login to amazon.com and add Amazon@IslaVista as a shipping address.
Purchase almost any item that is sold by Amazon.com or Fulfilled by Amazon and ship to the Amazon@IslaVista location. Amazon Student and Prime members will see “Pick it up TODAY” marked on any items eligible for Free Same-Day Pickup. Free Same-Day Pickup is available for orders placed before noon.
When purchasing items on Amazon.com, choose Amazon@IslaVista as your shipping address at checkout. You will receive an email or text notification when your order is available for pick up. When you’re ready to pick up your order, click on the link provided in the email or text. This link will generate a barcode. After arriving at Amazon@IslaVista, scan the barcode and pick up the order at one of the self-service lockers or go to the pickup desk where an associate can provide assistance.
