Man Stabs Family Member After Being Denied Money

Police arrested 18-year-old Angel Duran on the 100 block of N 13 th Street Wednesday evening after successfully identifying him as the suspect of in a Santa Paula stabbing.

Duran allegedly stabbed a family member who refused to provide him with money just after 1:30 a.m. Sunday on the 700 block of N Ojai Road.

Authorities say Duran demanded money from a family member who subsequently refused. The family member locked himself in a room with another family member. Witnesses say Duran then forced open the door and attacked them before fleeing the scene.

The victim, 33, did not sustain life-threatening injuries, but was transported to the hospital with stab wounds to his head and hands.

Duran was taken into custody on numerous assault charges and is being held at the Ventura County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
