Dunn Soccer Wins CIF Division 7 Championship

Sahid Conteh’s breakaway goal in the second half proved to be the game-winner as Dunn High School edged Condor League rival Laguna Blanca 2-1 to capture the CIF Division 7 boys soccer championship.

Conteh got started on his big night just minutes into the game. He assisted on Rodney Michael’s goal in the 5th minute and the Earwigs took that 1-0 lead into halftime.

The play of the night took place in the 57h minute when Conteh picked off a throw-in at midfield and raced down the field ahead of everyone and scored to make it 2-0.

Laguna Blanca cut the deficit in half when Damien Nunez scored from point blank range with less than 20 minutes left in the game.

The Owls produced several more chances but the equalizer never came for Laguna Blanca who were playing in their first ever CIF soccer final.

For Dunn High School of Los Olivos, they celebrate their first CIF championship in soccer since they won the division 6 title in 2006.
