Former Orcutt Youth Football League President Arrested
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office arrested 35-year-old Tyrome Lamar Lee of Orcutt for felony embezzlement.
Lee had been the president of the Orcutt Youth Football League but resigned shortly after being questioned by board members about discrepancies in the league’s bank account.
An internal audit showed the league to be short by more than $20,000.
Kelly Hoover, spokesperson for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that “an investigation…uncovered evidence that Lee had made unauthorized checks, falsified invoices and apparently embezzled a little more than $20,000 in league funds.”
On December 20, Sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant on Lee’s car and home where they seized numerous electronic devices and other evidence to support the embezzlement charge. Two firearms were also found at the residence.
“Lee is a convicted felon and therefore cannot legally possess any firearms,” added Hoover. “An additional charge for this violation will be requested via the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office.”
Lee was booked into the Santa Maria Jail on $25,000 bail. Lee posted bail and was released the same day.
