Man Identified In Deadly Pedestrian Crash

The California Highway Patrol has identified a man killed while trying to cross a dark street in Los Osos over the weekend.

The accident happened just after six Sunday night on Los Osos Valley Road near South Bay Boulevard.

Police say the 65-year old Mauricio Cardenas was crossing the road but wasn’t in a crosswalk, and it was too dark for the driver to see him when he was hit.

The collision blocked both lanes of South Bay Boulevard for a time.

This is the second fatal accident along Los Osos Valley Road in the past few months.
