Measure S Would Raise Property Taxes To Fund City College Upgrades
Voters from Carpinteria to Goleta will decide whether Measure S passes.
The measure would raise $288 million in bonds that would be paid back with an increase in property taxes.
The money would be spent on repairing and seismically upgrading the award winning campus overlooking the ocean.
No money would be spend on salaries.
Supporters said it will improve options for local students.
Opponents don’t want an increase in property taxes or student population growth.
The measure needs a super majority of 55 percent of the vote to pass.
