Stolen Security Vehicle Located in East Beach Parking Lot

A stolen golf cart security vehicle used by the Casa Esperanza Homeless shelter in Santa Barbara has been found after an apparent joy ride.

It was taken about 10:30 a.m. when a security guard left the cart to make a foot patrol check at an area business.

Police were notified and a search began by officers, local residents and business owners who were concerned about the stolen cart.

This afternoon Alan Bleecker from Capital Hardware and the Milpas Community Association spotted the cart abandoned in a beach parking lot next to the Cabrillo Bathhouse. Ironically, he was also involved in the purchase of this vehicle with a significant donation.

It was put into service earlier this year, and when it is rolling through the lower east side streets, community leaders say crime is down.

No arrests have been made and police continue to investigate.
