Thousands Lose Power During Storm

Southern California Edison crews worked overtime dealing with dozens of outages throughout the rain-soaked state.

More than 1,000 people lost power during eight outages in Santa Barbara.

One woman said she realized the power was out before noon when she couldn’t use her garage door opener. Another said she waited the four-hour outage out by reading a book.

Businesses on the Santa Barbara Mesa closed until the power returned around 3 p.m. Most were back in business by then.

SCE said customers can download the SCE.comoutages app to find out where outages occur and when crews expect power to be restored.

Most of the outages Friday were caused by equipment problems during the downpour.
