Gauchos Lose in Overtime at Utah State

Senior Kyle Boswell made seven three-pointers and scored 27 points but UCSB lost in overtime 77-71 to host Utah State on day two of the Basketball Travelers Classic.

The Gauchos had a ten point lead in the second half and led by five with 2:59 to play. The Aggies grabbed a one point lead but Boswell’s three-pointer with just over twenty seconds left put UCSB up 65-63. Utah State’s Kyle Davis tip-in with four seconds to go sent the game into overtime at 65.

Spencer Butterfield’s three-pointer with 2:39 left in ot gave the Aggies a 69-68 lead and UCSB never recovered. Butterfield scored a game-high 31 points.

Alan Williams tallied 23 points but it took him 24 shots.

UCSB is 1-1 in the tournament and 6-4 overall. The Gauchos play Western Illinois on Saturday.
