Deputies Arrest Suspect in Car Theft

Santa Barbara County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a suspect who allegedly stole a car.

Officials said they were on foot looking for the suspect in the residential area of Tanglewood Drive area.

A pursuit began in Santa Maria around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. The pursuit was eventually called off due to public safety concerns in the area.

Officials said the suspect then began running into back yards in the neighborhood. Sheriff K-9 units were checking each home in the area and advised residents to stay inside. Some streets in the were closed during the investigation.
