Principals-for-a-day run schools
Oxnard elementary schools had new principals Thursday. It was all part of the second Principal-for-a-Day event at 20 elementary schools.
Susan Odgers, who normally works at the district’s Education Foundation, went to Thurgood Marshall School in north Oxnard. Two fifth-grade boys showed Odgers around. Odgers said she learned that being a principal isn’t an easy job. She said she had to be visible and put out a lot of fires.
The special guest principals only worked half-day, then they were invited to lunch at the district office, where they could be debriefed and shared their thoughts about leadership and schools.
