Spaniel rescued from 10-foot drain pipe

A 40-pound Brittany Spaniel fell into an uncovered drainage pipe on Monday at 3 p.m.

Santa Barbara County Fire spent 45 minutes trying to rescue 13-year-old Biscuit after she fell 10 feet down the pipe.

The incident happened at the north end of Cieneguitas Rd. in Santa Barbara.

While a man was walking two other dogs, Biscuit slipped behind the others and fell hind-end-first in the 12 inch-wide-pipe.

Firefighters used two ten foot long poles and a strap to free the dog.

She was provided oxygen during the rescue and escaped without injuries.
