UCSB wins fourth straight to complete 6-3 homestand in baseball
Luke Swenson’s two-run double in the fifth inning opened up the flood gates in a 10-1 UCSB victory over St. Mary’s. The Gauchos are riding a four-game winning streak as they complete a 6-3 homestand.
Swenson’s opposite field double scored Brandon Trinkwon and Tyler Kuresa to snap a 1-1 tie. Swenson, who took third on an error by the left fielder, scored on a perfect squeeze bunt by Ryan Clark putting UCSB up 4-1.
The Gauchos scored three more in the sixth inning on a bases-loaded double by Kuresa. That was more than enough run support for freshman Kenny Chapman who worked six innings of three-hit ball allowing just one run.
UCSB is now 8-4 on the year and will play a three-game series at the University of Texas beginning Friday.
