Passengers scramble for solutions amid Southwest Airlines widespread flight cancellations
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. – Passengers are scrambling for solutions after Southwest Airlines initiated widespread cancellations of scheduled flights across the United States.
These cancellations have interfered with holiday plans for many Santa Barbara County residents.
“My daughter has taken off to go to Denver, Colorado. She is probably the only one that's going to make it today,” said Santa Barbara local Roxanne Gregson.
Some travelers, like Cormac O’Brien, found creative solutions to visit their families before the New Year. O’Brien decided to take a spontaneous road trip with fellow passengers who were also stranded at the Santa Barbara Airport due to the flight cancellations, making it in time to see his family for the holidays.
Others are turning to Amtrak to make it home for New Year’s celebrations.
