Rancheros Visitadores Cancel 90th Annual Spring Ride
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Another popular event has been cancelled in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Rancheros Visitadores event attracts 750 participants from 37 states and 6 countries every year. They parade on horseback and in carriages along Alisal Road through downtown Solvang to Old Mission Santa Inés.
"As president of RV I am very proud that we are still able to assist this great cause. My thanks to Steve Beneto and all the members who make this happen. We look forward to seeing you next year at the traditional mission ceremony," said Robert Feist, incoming President, Rancheros Visitadores.
The biggest loss will be felt by organizations that are supported by the event every year including the Ridley-Tree Cancer Center and The Cancer Foundation of Santa Barbara. The Rancheros Visitadores and its members raise a lot of money for these causes.
RV and Wrangler Jeans raised $188,000 so far this year to support breast cancer programs at the Ridley-Tree Cancer Center. Support over the past 9 years has totaled more than $1,258,000.
“The funds raised by the Rancheros Visitadores members and its partners support important programs utilized by many breast cancer patients right here in our community,” said Lori Willis, Cancer Foundation of Santa Barbara Executive Director.
Money raised by RV members and Wrangler Jeans by their 'Tough Enough to Wear Pink Foundation' helps support clinical research trials, wellness classes and support programs, hereditary cancer risk counseling and nurse navigation.
