Children can receive free bikes this week during the San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Office Christmas Bicycle Giveaway.

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. - The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office is hosting two Christmas bicycle giveaways this December for the 30th year in a row!

Since 1989, inmates at the Sheriff's Honor Farm have worked to refurbish bikes donated to them by the San Luis Obispo community.

The refurbished bikes and helmets are then donated to children in need during the holiday season.

The first giveaway will be held this Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 9 a.m. This giveaway will be located at the Sheriff's Honor Farm at 880 Oklahoma Avenue.

The second giveaway will take place on Thursday, Dec. 19, at 6 p.m. at the San Luis Obispo Farmer's Market.

This event is made possible with the support of the Sheriff's Advisory Foundation, The Sandlot Group, Art's Cyclery, Jail Programs Unit, Bike SLO County, Waste Connections and Rita's Rainbows.
