Water main rupture at Lompoc federal prison disrupting normal water access since Sunday

LOMPOC, Calif. – Federal Correctional Complex Lompoc has been experiencing disruption to normal water access at the detention facility since Sunday, Oct. 29 due to a water main rupture.

According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, part of the process of repairing the ruptured water line has required that water access be intermittently shut off at the facility and that repairs are expected to be completed on Wednesday, Nov. 1 or sooner.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons further explains in an emailed response to your News Channel's inquiries that inmates have access to "ample amounts of potable water" and can still take showers and flush toilets.

Unit Team employees have conducted 'Town Hall '-style briefings with inmates to explain the situation detail the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Additionally, the Federal Bureau of Prisons explain that all federal correctional facilities have contingency plans for incidents such as water main ruptures, but for safety and security reasons, could not provide those details to the public.
