Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network in need of volunteers

SBWCN

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network is in desperate need of volunteers right now.

Directors of the wildlife center said several or their current volunteers are college students and they’ve gone home for the summer break.

But the number of animal patients continues to rise in the midst of baby season.

There are currently more than 300 patients in their care.

Almost 2,000 injured animals have come into the facility since the beginning of this year.

"So we’re in dire need of volunteers right now, especially towards our closing shift time we have a two hour shift we can have for people of just mostly doing some final closing things of cleaning and getting the animals their last meals but it’s any help we can have with animal care is desperate needed," said training and recruitment coordinator Naomi Tripp of the Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network.
