"Well I think the curfew is necessary and I just don’t understand all the violence though it’s not really helping anything."
The curfew for the city of Santa Maria went into effect Monday evening from 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Officers with the Santa Maria Police Department say the night went as well as they hoped it would.
"Everything was quiet. Everything was peaceful. Everyone was compliant. We didn’t have any problems with civil disturbance. It was a peaceful night., said Lt. Paul Van Meel with the Santa Maria Police Department.
Silva hopes quiet nights will throughout the curfew order. "The police are doing the best they can with all the crowds. There’s so many more of them than there are police. But yes I commend them for being out there and trying to do what they need to do."
The curfew for the city will continue until June 8th.
