Santa Maria Fairpark: Managers seek support from legislators during COVID-19
SANTA MARIA, Calif. - While the fate of the Santa Barbara County Fair remains unclear, managers with the Santa Maria Fairpark sent a letter asking the community for support.
They want people to write their lawmakers and urge them to help the Fairpark.
"What we’d like to do is ask for supporters to write to their legislators and ask them to find funds to help the fairgrounds," said Shelly Cone with the Santa Maria Fairpark.
Cone says the Fairpark is important to the community not just because it is the home of the Strawberry Festival and county fair but because it hosts so many other community events.
"We also host a lot of events in the interim. We host events for nonprofits, conferences, car shows, dog shows and other related events," said Cone.
If the county fair is cancelled, Cone believes the new Fall Festival planned could bring in some much needed money and help keep the Fairpark running.
For now, Cone hopes Fairpark supporters will reach out to lawmakers and ask for funding,
