Elderjarius Stomtomas Belen of Morro Bay convicted of 11 counts of felony sex crimes
SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. – San Luis Obispo County District Attorney Dan Dow announced on Wednesday that a jury has found Elderjairus Stomtomas Belen of Morro Bay guilty of 11 felony counts of engaging in sex acts with a child under the age of 14.
The jury also found that these crimes involved multiple children detail the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's Office.
According to the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's Office, between November 2013 and December 2018, Belen engaged in a series of sex acts with two survivors when they were both under the age of ten.
“We thank the jury for their focused attention in this very sensitive and emotional case,” said District Attorney Dan Dow. “The two young survivors demonstrated remarkable courage by reporting the crimes and testifying in the trial necessary to bring this predator to justice. We are optimistic that this conviction will encourage victims of sexual assault to report the conduct to law enforcement.”
Belen is currently scheduled for sentencing on Dec. 1, 2023 in Department 9 of the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court where he faces a maximum of 275 years to life in state prison detail San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's Office.
The San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's Office also highlighted the role that Edgar, the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney Courthouse Facility dog, and his two handlers Senior Investigator Tim Murphy and Victim Witness Assistant Director Jennifer Love, played in assisting the two victims provide their testimony in this prosecution.
