Summer Solstice community celebration and parade also brings traffic and parking control
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Santa Barbara Summer Solstice is scheduled for Saturday, Jun. 24 and in order to make room for the parade, there will be traffic and parking control along Santa Barbara Street between East Cota Street and East Micheltorena Street from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Partial road closures around the Summer Solstice workshop at 631 Garden Street will begin on Saturday around 7 a.m.
Complete road closures of the nine blocks of Santa Barbara Street mentioned above will run between 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Temporary no parking along the parade route will be enforced.
Vehicles parked within the no parking zone during the designated times could be issued a citation and/or towed. No parking signs have been posted on the impacted streets.
Traffic will be diverted onto either Anacapa Street or Garden Street. There will be no vehicle access to Santa Barbara Street during the traffic control period.
Expect delays in the area and at the following times:
- Float Staging Area: Closed starting at 7 a.m. near 600 Garden Street between Cota and Ortega
- Forming Area: Closed starting at 8 a.m. at 100 and 200 blocks of East Ortega between Garden and Anacapa
- Santa Barbara Street: Closed at 10 a.m.
- Parade Route: Closed at 11 a.m. along Santa Barbara Street and adjoining roads both east and west
- Parade Start: 12 p.m.
- Parade Vector: Northbound on Santa Barbara Street from Ortega Street to Sola/Micheltorena Street. The parade will disband on Santa Barbara Street and use Alameda Park
- Parade End and Opening of associated roads: Estimated time of 3 p.m.
