Goleta man sails his boat to help Hurricane Irma survivors

32-year-old Jerrad Kozloff is taking time off of operating his business to help Hurricane Irma survivors.

Kozloff was raised in Goleta, but moved to the U.S. Virgin Islands a few years ago. He owns and operates Bon Bagay Sailing.

According to his mother, Beth Williams, Kozloff was sailing around the Caribbean to get away from Irma’s path when he saw the destruction it made.

“When he saw the great need of the people he told me he couldn’t do nothing. He had to do something,” said Williams.

Kozloff packed his 48-foot boat with water, rice, toothpaste and soap. He and his crewman “Lucas” took the supplies to people from Barbuda as they evacuated to Antigua.

“I’m so happy he’s taken it on to touch people’s lives,” said Williams.

Kozloff is also planning to help people in the British Virgin Islands.
