Helicopter and water rescue teams search for downed kite surfer off Miramar Beach

MONTECITO, Calif. – Crews are actively searching for a downed kite surfer reported to have crashed a half mile off the coast of Miramar Beach, according to the Montecito Fire Protection District.

According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, a person staying at the Miramar Hotel saw and reported the crash on Monday evening.

Three water rescue crafts and a Santa Barbara County Fire helicopter are on the scene, according to officials.

This is an ongoing incident and more details will be added as they arrive.
