Missing at-risk 69-year-old Los Osos man found safely
[UPDATE]
Daniel Alan Arndt, 69, was found safe Friday afternoon in a steep ravine, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.
Search and Rescue crews had been searching for Arndt since the previous night, and a crew that was searching on a steep hillside heard Arndt respond to their calls. They soon made physical contact with him.
Arndt’s vital signs were weak but began to get better after he was given some fluids, the Sheriff’s Office said.
A CHP helicopter was called to assist due to the steep area and abundant poison oak nearby. The helicopter airlifted Arndt to a location where an ambulance was standing by to take him to the hospital for further medical attention.
Arndt had been missing and considered at-risk because he suffers from dementia and did not take his medication when he walked away from his home in the 2900 block of Clark Valley Road in Los Osos.
What remains unclear is how Arndt ended up in the steep ravine.
