Former Cal Poly star David Nwaba gets shot with Lakers

David Nwaba is the first Cal Poly basketball player in the program’s Division 1 era to sign a contract with an NBA team.

The Los Angeles Lakers called up Nwaba from their development team, the LA D-Fenders where he averaged almost 14 points, 7 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 1.2 blocks per game in the D-League.

He is regarded by most as one of the best defensive players in the D-League.

Nwaba helped Cal Poly advance to the NCAA Tournament during his sophomore season in 2014.

Nwaba’s sister Barbara Nwaba represented the United States in the 2016 Summer Olympics in the heptathlon.

Nwaba and the Lakers host Charlotte tonight at 7:30pm.
