Goleta Valley Library to celebrate National Library Card Sign-Up Month with activity filled calendar for September
GOLETA, Calif.- September’s National Library Card Sign-Up Month is right around the corner.
Goleta Valley Library is highlighting September as a time to explore free resources and engaging opportunities for kids.
The library allows you to check out dozens of books at a time with your library card.
Kids like Harry Pedersen light up talking about their favorite books. he can’t seem to get enough of the “Tin Tin” comic book series.
“I like that whenever there's a problem, there's probably going to be a way to solve it,” said Harry when talking about his favorite take away from the series.
Harry’s favorite thing about reading? Getting lost in the story.
Thanks to the library card, readers can get lost in an extensive online library of learning.
“With that comes audiobooks, e-books, streaming music and movies. Magazines even have access to resources for research, historical databases, LinkedIn Learning, formerly Linda.Com… you can even read the New York Times for free” said children’s librarian Elizabeth Saucedo.
But Goleta Valley Library is more than just a place to read. It’s a hub that brings kids together across the county for themed story times, dance classes, and Homework Help Day.
Adults and teens can benefit from a variety of programs including a writers’ workshop, paper marbling craft, and tech tutoring.
There is even a mystery book club gathering for September.
Accessibility and community become a focus here as all of these programs and resources are available free of charge.
