DNA Evidence Links Oxnard Man To Kidnapping and Rape

After a two month investigation, DNA evidence linked 55-year-old Jose Guadlupe Langarcia of Oxnard to a kidnapping and rape near Oxnard State Beach Park.

Officials say a 23-year-old female was walking in the early morning hours on the 600 block of S Harbor Boulevard in Oxnard in April 2015, when a male approached in his truck and tried to persuade her to get inside. When she declined, the female claims he parked his truck, got out and followed her to the beach park.

He grabbed the female and took her to a secluded area where he proceeded to commit acts of sexual assault. Following the incident, he fled the area and she immediately notified police.

A two-month investigation ensued and linked Langarcia to the assault through DNA identification.

Police located Langarcia on the 1200 block of Holly Avenue in Oxnard where he was arrested Thursday around 8:45 a.m.

Langarcia was booked into Ventura County Jail on charges including kidnapping for purposes of committing rape, rape by force, digital penetration and sexual battery. His bail is set at $750,000.
