VIDEO: Christopher Meadows Memory Honored Through Scholarship

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The sixth annual Christopher Meadows Memorial Wine Tasting fundraiser is coming up on Saturday. To date, the family has awarded 16 scholarships, and this year they’ve awarded six, the most in one year.

Six years after Christopher Meadows, a young San Luis Obispo county EMT, died in the line of duty, is family is paying it forward with annual scholarships for those who want to be paramedics.

Meadows was only 24 –years-old when he died, a promising life cut short.

Kayla Pedrani, a fourth year Cal Poly student and recent recipient of the scholarship, said “Christopher also attended Cal Poly he was a business major and he wanted to be paramedic and firefighter which is exactly what I want to do.”

Meadows’ life story of hard work and dedication continues to inspire students like Kayla Pedrani.

His memory is a big part of the central coast, and the first responder community.

Christopher’s father Tim said he is glad his son continues to touch lives, six years after his death.

Tim said, “We do this to keep our son’s memory alive. There is nothing worse than the thought of losing a child but even more painful is the thought that he would be forgotten. It’s wonderful that the scholarship recipient shared that same desire.”

Christopher didn’t make it to paramedic school, but his family wants to make sure others with the same passion get there.

Tim said, “He had a huge heart and really wanted to help other people in their darkest hour.”

The sixth annual Christopher Meadows Memorial Wine Tasting & Silent Auction is on Saturday May 9 th from 3 to 6PM.
