Morro Bay Under Shark Warnings For Next 48 Hours
Morro Bay Harbor Patrol has issued shark warnings that will stay in effect until Wednesday after a commercial fisherman spotted a 10-foot shark.
KCOY/KEYT/KKFX’s Cory James spoke with harbor patrol Monday morning. Officials tell him the last shark sighting was about a month ago.
Harbor patrol says lifeguards immediately notified people around the water of the sighting once it was reported.
In addition to alerting people on the ground, officers launched a boat to inform those in the water of the shark.
The shark, which harbor patrol says was described as being white, was spotted around 2 p.m. Sunday.
Harbor Patrol wants to remind the public that sharks are always there. They say marine life – like seals – behaving oddly is one sign that a shark could be nearby.
