14-year-old dies after crashing dirt bike, police say

    LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (WLKY) — A 14-year-old is dead after crashing his dirt bike into a car in Valley Station, police said.

The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the intersection of Winding Stream Drive and Winding Stream Way.

LMPD said the boy was westbound on Winding Stream Way when he ran a stop sign and hit an SUV near its front wheel. The boy was thrown from his bike onto the hood of the SUV.

He was taken to UofL Hospital where he later died of his injuries.

Police said he wasn’t wearing a helmet.

No one else was injured.

The LMPD Traffic Unit is investigating. No charges are expected.
