Santa Barbara man arrested for brandishing BB gun, threatening to kill people
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A Santa Barbara man was arrested Thursday after allegedly brandishing a Red Rider BB gun during two separate incidents over the past week.
On Saturday, April 24, at 3:37 p.m., Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies said they responded to a call regarding a person pointing a rifle at passersby on the 5900 block of Stagecoach Road in Santa Barbara.
The man reportedly fled the area in a silver Honda Accord before deputies arrived, however, crews were able to gather witness descriptions of the suspect and his vehicle.
The sheriff's office said on Thursday around 7:44 a.m., they received another call that a person with a rifle in a silver Honda Accord was threatening to kill people on the 100 block of Winchester Canyon Road in Goleta.
The man again fled the area, but deputies were able to gather enough information to identify the suspect as a 39-year-old Santa Barbara man.
Later that day, around 3:12 p.m., deputies said they spotted the man's car in the area of Mandarin Drive and S. Fairview Avenue in Goleta.
Crews said they arrested the man immediately and located the weapon they believe was used during both brandishings in his car, a Red Rider BB gun.
The man was then booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail where he faces charges for brandishing and criminal threats. He is being held without bail.
