SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Santa Barbara City firefighters responded to a limousine that caught fire while traveling in the downtown area Saturday afternoon.

The fire was called in around 4:35 p.m. at Garden Street and East Yanonali Street.

City Fire said one engine was dispatched to the scene, however, a second engine was called after the fire department received reports of black smoke coming from the limo.

About 15 passengers were also seen standing on the street off to the side of the vehicle.

When the first engine arrived, crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire and keep all flames contained to the engine compartment of the vehicle. Firefighters said the blaze did not extend to the passenger compartment.

The second engine response was then canceled and an investigator was called to the scene. The cause is under investigation.

City Fire said the 300 block of Garden Street was closed to traffic for about 30 minutes during the incident.

No injuries were reported.
