SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — It's that time of year to buy Girl Scout cookies. But just like everything else during the pandemic, Girl Scouts are pivoting their pitch during the pandemic.

Girl Scouts throughout Santa Barbara County are putting together social media videos and e-commerce websites to sell Thin Mints, Caramel deLites (also known as Samoas) and other favorites.

This year, you won't see Girl scouts knocking on doors or standing outside stores because of COVID guidelines.

"This year it's contactless,” Girl Scout Stella Borgioli said. “Girls create a link online that they can send to people."

Last year, Borgioli sold more than 500 boxes. This year, the Santa Barbara High freshman is setting the bar a little lower at 300.

"We usually sell in Isla Vista and this year we can't," Borgioli said.

Even though the Coronavirus has cut into cookie season, that’s not stopping these girls from collecting online orders for their tasty treats.

"People should buy cookies because they're good," Girl Scout Cassidy Beard said.

"They have to eat them and it'll make them happy," Girl Scout Grace Gerenser added.

This year's cookie program runs through March 14.

The money raised supports local programs for Girl Scouts. This includes the portion that goes directly to the troop you purchased cookies from.

You can place an order online, with cookies set to arrive at your doorstep within a few days.
