The Santa Barbara Zoo’s Snow Leopard Festival has been rescheduled

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Santa Barbara Zoo's annual Snow Leopard Festival was rescheduled due to rain in the forecast for the coming weekend.

The Festival, originally scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 8, has been moved to Sunday, Jan. 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

9 a.m. admission will be available to zoo members.

For the festival, the Zoo will be shipping in 80 tons of snow which will provide hills for sledding, snow play for children and, of course, fun for the zoo's newest snow leopard.

Additional activities include keeper talks about snow leopard conservation, face painting, crafts and a 25-foot climbing wall dubbed "Mount Everest."

Snow-leopard themed toys and books will be sold at the festival as well. The zoo said proceeds from these sales will be used to benefit the Snow Leopard Trust’s conservation work in the wild.

Tickets for sledding and use of the bounce houses will be $5. All other activities will be free for guests.

The zoo said sleds will be provided at the snow hills. Sledding is for children ages four to twelve only.
