Santa Maria Burgers makes sure no child goes hungry
SANTA MARIA, Calif. - A Santa Maria burger restaurant is helping to make sure no child in the area goes hungry.
Santa Maria Burgers is a family-owned restaurant with many loyal customers. It opened five years ago and has gained popularity in the city.
Since the coronavirus pandemic, business has changed from dine-in to drive-thru only.
The restaurant's owners said that people are still coming to support them, despite going through these difficult times, including losing their jobs.
As a way to say thank you and give back, the owners are offering free meals to kids during certain hours, every day of the week. Supervisor Dimitrios Politis said they hope that the money that families save on food can help relieve the stress of paying for other necessities, like a mortgage or rent.
The restaurant plans to offer free food to kids through the pandemic, and will possibly extend the program afterwards.
Santa Maria Burgers is located at 1785 S Broadway in Santa Maria.
